A lecturer in management, Ron joined the former Strathclyde Graduate Business School in 1991, and has taught on the UK and International MBA programmes in Asia, the Gulf and Europe, and IDGS programmes in Thailand and Hong Kong. He has also held concurrent visiting academic positions at institutions in Poland, Switzerland and Singapore.
Resident in Abu Dhabi since 2005, he is responsible for the operations and development of the Business School's campuses in the United Arab Emirates, which in addition to the MBA, offer an expanding range of postgraduate degree courses. Alongside the UAE, Ron also has responsibility for the International MBA centres in Oman, and Bahrain. Before moving to the UAE, he spent 6 years in Singapore and 3 years in Shanghai managing the International MBA centres in Asia. Ron has recently been appointed Associate Dean for the MBA programme.
He has served on the Boards of several companies and has been an invited speaker/panelist at various senior management conferences, including the Economist CFO Roundtable, Asia Network and CEO Asia Roundtable conferences.
Prior to joining Strathclyde Ron qualified as an accountant and spent 18 year working in senior positions in large multinationals in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Publishing industries in Canada, the US and the UK.
Prof. Taki Al Abduwani

Prof. Taqi has been appointed by Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), as one of the external reviewer in the Sultanate of Oman. The OAAA recognises that effective quality assurance of higher education is conducted by leading national and international peers, from academia, industries and professions, who are trained and/or well experienced in external review methods. The Board of the OAAA applies a rigorous process for approving Reviewers. Also, it requires that all Reviewers either complete a formal training programme for reviewers or are already recognised as leading external reviewers before they may participate in an OAAA review.
Prof. Taqi was appointed as the Chairperson for the Executive Committee of Oman Quality Network in Higher Education for a period of two years with effect from April 2012, member of the Executive Committee for two years with effect from April 2014 and the Co-Opt member of the Executive Committee with effect from November 2016. He has also been the Vice Chair of the Academic Committee for the OQNHE 3rd and 4th Conference on Quality Management and Enhancement in Higher Education 2015 and a member in the Academic Committee for the 4th Conference on Quality Management and Enhancement in Higher Education 2017

Professor Kamilla Swart is a full Professor and Masters in Sport Management Program Director in the College of Business Administration, American University in the Emirates (AUE). Prior to joining AUE in January 2017, she headed up the Centre for Tourism Research in Africa, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT, from 2003). Her research interests include sport and event tourism, with a specific focus on mega-events and event policies, strategies and evaluations. She completed her doctoral degree in education and sport tourism and graduated from Illinois State University in 2001. Prior to joining academia, Kamilla worked as a sponsorship consultant for Octagon South Africa from 2000-2003. Two key tourism-related projects included developing and managing the event tourism strategy for the City of Durban and developing the national event strategy for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism and South African Tourism. Professor Swart is the author of Sport Tourism and over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters related to sport and tourism. She has delivered sport and tourism classes and research and training presentations in over 10 countries. Kamilla was instrumental in driving the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Research Agenda and was appointed by the City of Cape Town to coordinate the City’s 2010 Research Program. Kamilla also served as the principal investigator of the CPUT team for CARNIVAL, a 852 000 Euro funded project by the EU Commission (2013-2017), focused on the management and legacy of mega-events with partner institutions in Brazil, England, Germany, South Africa, and the USA. Professor Swart is Regional Editor (Africa) for the Journal of Destination Marketing and Management. She serves as an international partner of the Sport Business School Finland for the initiation of collaborative research field studies at major international sport events and serves on the Advisory Board of the African Sport Business Association. Kamilla also serves on the advisory board of Unimedia, which is driving “PinkStig” an initiative aimed at levelling the playing fields for women’s professional golf.

Professor Mohamed Youssef is a Professor at the College of Business Administration, the American University in the Emirates. Dr. Youssef earned a B.Com, an MA from University of Cairo, MBA, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the City University of New York, USA.
He has published more than 140 research papers in refereed journals as well as the proceedings of prestigious academic societies such as Decision Sciences, POM, Academy of Management, in the areas of Quality Management, Benchmarking, Advanced Manufacturing technology, Time-Based Technology, Business Process Re-Engineering, and other POM related areas. In addition, He translated 13 books from English to Arabic, all in Business and Quality Management areas. Professor Youssef, was the founding editor and editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Benchmarking and sets on the international Advisory board of more than 15 International Journals in the areas of Operations, Quality, and Knowledge management. His current research interests are in Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, and Knowledge Management. Prior to joining AUE, professor Youssef was the Edward L. Brown Chair Professor of Management at NSU, USA. He also taught at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, University of Dubai and was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Learning, Technology, and Scientific Research at Hamdan Bin Mohamed Electronic University. Professor Youssef was also the president and CEO of the International Consulting Group in Virginia Beach, USA.

Prof. Amina Ahec-Šonje recently become the Vice Dean for Professional and Scientific Activities at the EFFECTUS University College for Law and Finance in Zagreb, Croatia.
Amina Ahec-Šonje, graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb. During her studies, she was awarded a Rector’s honor for the University’s best student in 1987/88. After graduation, she worked as a financial analysis intern at Rade Koncar Holding. During 1992, she returned to the Faculty of Economics as a research associate at the Mathematics Department. From 1992 until 2004, she pursued scholarly research at the Faculty of Economics, where she headed the Department for conjectural research. She graduated with an M.A in 1995 in “Prediction of business cycles” and developed the first prediction index of business cycles for Croatia, CROLEI, which is still published in statistical reports of the government administration. She was awarded a PhD in 2002 at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb with a thesis on “Currency and banking crisis and signal method for crisis’ prediction”.
She teaches at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management since 2004, where she is the head of the Economics Department. From December 2010, she serves as a vice-dean for education at the ZSEM undergraduate program. She heads and teaches several economic courses: Principles of Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Macroeconomics analysis and Microeconomics analysis. During her long scholarly research, she has written around 20 papers on the subject of macroeconomics analysis and prediction as well as a number of expert works and project studies. Most of her research was dedicated to problems of developing countries, causes of business cycles, theories of currency and banking crises with an emphasis on development of analytical methods of predicting currency and banking disorders.
